You wouldn’t keep out of date food in your fridge, so why keep expired products in your first aid kit?

Keeping products past their expiry date can be unsafe. Products will start to deteriorate and may not be effective.

When was the last time you checked the products in your first aid kit?

We recommend you check the expiry date on your first aid products, write the dates down and then stick a reminder in your diary.

 Product Expiry date
 HSE medium sterile dressing
 HSE large sterile dressing
 Eye pad
 Washproof plasters
 Sterile moist dressing
 Burnshield dressing
 Finger dressing

Own a defibrillator?

If your workplace has a defibrillator don’t forget to check the expiry dates on the pads and batteries.

Pads must be disposed once used and new pads purchased and batteries usually expire every 2 to 5 years depending on make and model so check carefully and put these in you diary too.
